Metro Manila Transit Data in Google Maps

EACOMM is proud to announce the completion of our transit survey project in partnership with Google Maps which started last year. The project initially featured all four train (MRT, LRT1, LRT2, PNR) systems in Metro Manila. Currently, the following information are available via maps.google.com.ph: Train data for MRT, LRT1, LRT2, and PNR Train data for PNR from Manila to Ligao. Intercity Bus data for over 20 routes from Manila to neighboring Provinces Metro Manila bus data for over 20 routes within the Metropolis Intercity Ferry Data for 3 routes. Google Maps allows you to use multiple transport modes to get you to your destination at the fastest possible time or with the least amount of transfers. Some features that we are working on aggressively that will be coming soon in the following months in Google Maps include: Fare data for Metro Manila Buses More intercity bus and ferry routes Transit data on other major Philippine cities (Cebu, Davao, etc..)
Philippine Companies Keyword Tag Clouds
Take a fascinating look at what people are searching for in www.philippinecompanies.com by viewing a tag cloud of the latest 500 searches done in the website. Font size and color are adjusted to the popularity of the keyword. Some interesting insights can be derived by analyzing this relatively simple data representation. The majority of searches are targeted to Metro Manila. Indicative of how the Philippine economy is still heavily centralized around the capital. Interestingly, you’ll see how the other provinces and cities stack up as well against the capital (and its component cities against each other). i.e. Cavite, Batangas and Laguna are playing catch-up to the popularity of Metro Manila. The most common search topics entered include “Employment and Immigration“, “Construction Companies“, “Education/Schools“, “Hospitals“. This shows us the priorities of the Filipinos in terms of looking for work abroad, improving infrastructure/building houses, getting an education, and healthcare. It would be interesting to see how these trends change over time so check-back every now and then to Philippinecompanies.com’s Tag Cloud Page.

Metro Manila Train Schedules now available in Google Maps

Manila, Philippines – This August, users of Google Maps (http://maps.google.com) will now be able to use the “Get Directions†Button to plan trips using Metro Manila’s four train lines: The LRT1, LRT2, MRT3, and the PNR Commuter Train. Simply type the origin and destination points in the maps search bar and select the train icon and Google Maps will show you the nearest train station, where to transfer trains, how long the journey will take and how much it will cost you. This new feature of Google Maps is anticipated to increase ridership of public trains by providing more information on alternatives to driving by car or taking the taxi. For example, traveling from Marikina to Alabang at first glance is a long, arduous and expensive journey if you will be commuting. By using Google Maps to plan the trip, it turns out by taking the train (LRT2->MRT3->PNR) it would take just over an hour to make the trip in rush hour traffic for only Php 34.00! Data collection and formatting services was provided by EACOMM Corporation, a web and software development company based in Quezon City, who are currently working on the next stages of the project which entails the inclusion of bus and ferry schedules to Google Maps. This will create a much more comprehensive coverage of Metro Manila’s public transport system not only within the metropolis but to and from neighbouring cities and towns as well. PhilippineCompanies.com API
Search Query API The Search API allows you to query the PhilipppineCompanies.com search engine and display the results in your website. The API uses the GET method to access the search engine and returns the results in RSS format which can then be easily parsed for display in your site. LINK: http://www.philippinecompanies.com/searchapi.php?what=[WHAT]&where=[WHERE] For example, if you want to search for hotels located in Boracay:http://www.philippinecompanies.com/searchapi.php?what=hotels&where=boracay You can generate some example links by using the form below: WHO or WHAT:  WHERE:  Proximity Search API This API performs a search based on geographic proximity to a pair of latitude and longitude values. This is particularly useful for people developing mobile applications. Similar to the standard Search API, variables are sent via GET method and the server response is formatted in RSS. LINK: http://www.philippinecompanies.com/proximityapi.php?what=[search query]&within=[Search Radius in meters]&latlng=[latitude],[longitude] For example, if you want to search for hotels located within 2,000 meters of coordinatesLat:9.551418 Long:123.78371 (which corresponds to Alona Beach in Panglao Island in Bohol):http://www.philippinecompanies.com/proximityapi.php?what=hotels&within=2000&latlng=9.551418,123.78371 FOR FEATURE REQUESTS, TECHNICAL SUPPORT, AND FURTHER INFORMATION ON ACCESSING PHILIPPINECOMPANIES.COM PLEASE CONTACT INFO@PHILIPPINECOMPANIES.COM

However, the site is envisioned to be a comprehensive trip/travel planning site that will eventually include bus, ferries and other modes of transportation across the country. The third of its kind in the city, the fair will have 1,300 booths with more than 200 exhibitors from the local and overseas animation industry showcasing their work on more than 70,000 sq m of space. Android Software Development
EACOMM has seen tremendous progress in developing business and educational apps for the Android operating system in the short span of time that we’ve dedicated resources in developing this skill set. EACOMM has managed to leverage its over ten years of experience in web, software and multimedia development as well as its seven years of experience in developing Content Management Systems in developing interactive android applications that can be managed and edited on-line. Here are just some of the projects we’ve been doing in the past few months: Tablet Content Management Systems – We are aggressively redesigning our DO-CMS business website management system to cater to Android Tablets and smart phones. Applications of this CMS includes Android-based e-books and magazines, e-learning tools, market research tools and business management applications. Two-way communications allow for the android tablet to be used for remote data gathering while processing and report generation are done in the cloud. Location Awareness – The majority of Android tablets and smart phones are equipped with Global Positions Systems or GPS. This provides EACOMM with the opportunity to develop a variety of location-aware applications that can be used in the fields of fleet/vehicle tracking and management, inventory/shipment tracking, market and political research and surveys, tourism and more. Interactive Multimedia – EACOMM is the premier provider of DVD/CD PC-based interactive multimedia applications in the Philippines. It would be a shame if we do not leverage our market leadership into this new and exciting platform of tablet computing. As such, we are excited to offer interactive multimedia e-books, learning tools, games, and corporate presentations for the Android platform. For more information regarding our Android programming efforts or if you are interested to have us develop an Android app for your organization please email us at: solutions@eacomm.com. We are also on the look out for Java developers interested to focus on Android software development. Please send your resumes to admin@eacomm.com so that we can invite you for an interview.

SQL Optimization
SQL or Structured Query Language has been the standard protocol of most Relational Database Systems of the past decades. It runs the backbone of practically the whole Internet as all the major database systems (Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL, etc…) utilizes it. As such it is a critical language to know for web programmers. A very basic knowledge of SQL can help even the most novice programmer to start developing simple web or software applications such as Blogs, Web Stores, Dynamic Websites and others. With the large computing power available to us even in the simplest web hosting servers, it is oftentimes neglected that our Database design and queries are optimized for the fastest possible performance. However, when we are dealing with tens of thousands of website visitors or hundreds of thousands of database entries, SQL optimization is a must. The following presentation discusses simple SQL optimization techniques that can greatly improve your software or web application’s performance. SQL Optimization
